I am a Historian, an equipper of Time Travelers, and a purveyor of lost arts. My focus and education is Domestic History, including Historical Fashion, Household Skills, and lacemaking (particularly Bobbin Lace), as well as cooking/baking, and antique machinery.
I believe that studying people, processes, and events of different times gives us empathy and provides a window to see ourselves currently in our own brief segment in relation to the vast human experience.
I don’t understand quite how a lot of things that were very commonplace for centuries, even millennia, have all but disappeared in the last century, but my aim is to assist anyone interested learning and enjoying them. This is a place to demystify old skills and ideas. If you’re just learning, let me teach you. If you’re experienced, let me stand by you and we can enjoy these wonderful old things together.
